Helena Christensen - The face of Pilgrim Jewellery

December 3rd, 2008

There is an interesting story about Helena Christenson and the designers of Pilgrim Jewellery in the Telegraph that I thought I would share with you.  Here it is…

Helena Christensen - The face of Pilgrim Jewellery

Helena Christensen has once again transformed her look from a provocative pirate queen for Agent Provocateur to an almost angelic angel, to become the face of Pilgrim jewellery…

First, she posed as a provocative pirate queen for Agent Provocateur in a red lace basque, thong and stockings accessorised with over-the-knee boots and a lusty grin.

Now, it looks as if all the buried treasure belonging to this busty buccaneer has ended up around her neck.

The popular Danish supermodel, Helena Christensen, has swapped Pirate for Pilgrim to become the face of one of her favourite brands of jewellery.

She has joined forces with two of Denmark’s most eclectic jewellery designers, Annemette Markvad and Thomas Adamsen of Pilgrim, to co-design a new range of necklace, earrings, rings and bracelets.

Markvad and Adamsen were ‘flower-children ‘ when they started Pilgrim twenty years ago whilst they were backpacking around the hippie trails of the East. They collected jewellery from all over India, China, Thailand and Bali which they then sold at rock festivals around Denmark when they returned home.

The business gradually developed into a global project and today is sold in more than 5,000 stores around the world. But Pilgrim has not forgotten its hippie ideals. Each piece of jewellery is individually handmade and the company is dedicated to a socially responsible corporate ethic. Pilgrim supports Doctors Without Borders, the independent, humanitarian medical aid agency committed to international emergency zones, raising money through the sale of special items of jewellery in its main collections.

The new collection, co-designed by Helena Christensen is, typically, ethnically-inspired and feminine, in both delicate orchid-pastels and strong, spicy colours, priced between £10 and £100.

Pilgirm Silver CoExist Mega Charm

Pilgirm Silver CoExist Mega Charm

PILGRIM has produced a pendant using the logo Coexist. Coexist became a real statement when Bono, lead singer of U2, promoted it throughout the band’s Vertigo World Tour in 2005/2006. Bono wore a headband with the Coexist logo during the concerts along with a flaming logo projected onto a giant stage screen behind the band.

The logo symbolises a wish to live together peacefully, side by side across religions, and to achieve acceptance through dialogue. PILGRIM supports this initiative.

The logo unites the three large religions of Islam, Judaism and Christianity and was designed in 1991 by the Polish artist Piotr Mlodozeniec for Museum on the Seam. PILGRIM has been given permission and encouragement from the museum to use it.

Pilgrim Earring Charms

Not sure if you’ve seen these yet, but they are just so cute.  You buy the earring itself and then choose which charms you would like to attach to them.  They work best when you have a couple of different charms on each earring. This is what Pilgrim say ”

As something new, we’re launching charms for earrings. The charms should be placed on the earrings and is easily changed. The charms are designed with thoughts of quirkiness, humour and fine details.”

You can see the full range of earring charms here!

Our New Offices

November 14th, 2008

I wish I had lots to report on our new offices but unfortunately with the weather and availability of builders, its all a bit slow and the roof isn’t finished yet.

On the plus side we have measured for curtains!

Childrens Jewellery

November 14th, 2008

Children can be either really easy to buy presents for really tricky.  For one of my children, I could go into any toy shop and immediately find 10 things I know they would love.  The one tho is a completely different matter!

We really like the new animal necklaces that are new this year.  With bright colours and endearing faces, they’re bound to be a hit with any child.

Our New Offices

October 31st, 2008

Well, things were going along swimmingly with our new office until the builders had a closer look at the roof and decided that it just wouldn’t last that much longer.  So off came all the tiles, re-felted and battened and now we’re just waiting for the tiles to be replaced.  As they are old clay tiles that overlap each other it means we need loads more just to replace the ones that are damaged.  The inside has been put on hold while the roof is done so we still haven’t put in the door lining, wall, insulated painted and carpeted.

Those soft furnishings are on hold too!
